peaceful in a pink world or rustig in een roze wereld was made for and part of the group exhibition Making (A) Public. the goal for this project was to make something about being queer that could be understood by people who are not a part of the community. i decided to showcase what it's like to be surrounded by other queer people who don't live their life confined to cisgender & heterosexual standards.

the art work consisted of a virtual reality experience presented in the middle of +/- a hundred analog photos I took over the past two years of the many queer people around me. The contrast between the digital and the analog is a very important part of the project because of the fact that many queer people resort to the internet to find people who are similar to them.

the project was met with a lot of appreciation and joy from queer people and to a degree a new understanding by the cisgender and hetero viewer. i also sold postcards during and after the exhibition and this sale went really well and motivated me to sell my art more often.
