peaceful in a Black world or rustig in een Zwarte wereld 

is a project that felt necessary to make because i often feel like Black people

have been robbed of the power of imagination. 

 

With the news, social media, and a lot of people around me focusing on

the negative aspects of being Black, I felt the urge to create something

to disrupt and shift this dominant narrative about black life. 

 

The limits colonialism and continuous exploitation have been putting on

our pasts, present and futures have made it hard to dream of a better world. 

 

Our reality is that we are able to experience joy. 

We need the space to reclaim pleasure, healing and happiness.
We are capable of caring for eachother, for ourselves and for our futures.

We can shift our perception of the now by radically imagining a future full of joy, love and peace.
